Global Standards to Protect Children in Sport

The International Safeguards for Children in Sport provide a globally recognised framework to help organisations prevent harm, uphold children’s rights, and create safer sporting environments through strong systems, policies, and cultures.

International Safeguards for Children in Sport

When participating in traditional sport or esports, from grassroots to elite, children face the possibility of abuse – from coaches, from staff and from other athletes. The impact of that abuse can last a lifetime.

It is every child’s right to be safe during sport, and it is every organisation’s responsibility to protect those children.

The International Safeguards for Children in Sport (2014) and the International Safeguards for Children in eSports (2025) are a comprehensive framework of safer sport measures for organisations to implement.

Below you can read a summary of the 8 safeguards, or click on the button to visit the Safe in Sport website to read the fill set of resources.
